Workers and contractors receive safety awards

KUALA LUMPUR: ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc (EMEPMI) recently presented awards to its employees and contractors in recognition of their safety excellence last year.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr S Subramaniam handed out the awards.

"A safe and healthy workforce is a necessary foundation for economic growth and critical to achieving ExxonMobil's business success wherever we operate," said ExxonMobil Subsidiaries in Malaysia chairman Hugh Thompson.

"Our commitment to safety, health and environment excellence is embedded into our business, and part is our activities and operations 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

"We conduct every work activity with our safety vision of "Nobody Gets Hurt".

"Today's awards are given to recognise employees' and contractors' efforts in maintaining ExxonMobil's high safety and quality standards. Through our shared dedicated and focus on safety, I am convinced that we will continue to achieve injury-free worksites," Thompson said.

Four worksites and work groups - Tapis D/Pump Platform, Irong Barat A Platform, Kemaman Supply Base and the Centralised Maintenance Group - received the Hurt Free Award because none of their employees and contractors suffered injuries last year.

Twelve employees and contractor personnel were given the Chairman's Safety Award for their leadership and contributions towards safety-related performance.

A total of 48 contractor companies were recognised for their safety achievements.

Three contractors - Barmada McDermott Sdn Bhd, Dimension Bid (M) Sdn Bhd and Jasa Merin (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd - recieved the gold Award for completing between 100,000 and 300,000 work hours without injuries last year.

These contractors were involved in offshore installation, well intervention services, and supply vessel logistics for EMEPMI's offshore facilities.
